The size has been the main thing holding me back. I've found the difference between the 5" and 7" RED LCDs to be substantial, so I've been hesitant to jump on the otherwise attractive TV Logic.
Matt, the FSI 7" has a great feature set, especially scopes, but the red peaking focus assist is terrible due to a slow processor. It lags, isn't on the actual transition, but delayed. I prefer a 7-8" monitor and love the TV Logic 7", but resolution is better on the 5.6" by TV Logic and Small HD, and the size and weight are perfect for AF100's and DSLR's. I find the 5.6" size to be more useful than I thought it would be, a big step above the built-in LCD in the AF100, especially in pixel to pixel mode or zoom mode, which of course is not an option with the AF100 LCD and EVF.
TV Logic 7" is $2500, FSI 7" is $2000, the TV Logic and Small HD price points are so much lower, as are battery and charger options compared to V-Mount or Anton/Bauer that the smaller size is pretty much a non-issue, even though the user interface of those 7" models is superior due to all the direct button feature access. I've said it many times, for $1350, the TV Logic WFM-056WP really is a compelling product. Timur has seen what they are known for--color, scaling, almost a CRT like quality relative to other LCD's.
Does anyone have insight into proper picture settings for the tv logic when calibrated to the AF100 color bars?
at the stock zeroed-out settings, the monitor looks flat and de-saturated.
I called Dave at Vidkey to order a VFM-056WP. He said he didn't have one in stock but could get me one in a few days. When I told him I had a shoot this weekend, he drove over to my house and dropped off his demo so I could have one for the shoot! Is that service or what? He's a great guy and I am really grateful for that kind of service and consideration. Thanks, Dave!
