Trying to dub to hard drive

I'm trying to dub directly to a hard drive via firewire, is there a recommended brand (or specifications for compatibility)?

I've tried a WD 1.5 TB and a seagate xtreme agent 2TB and they both didn't work (showed incorrect capacities, negative to be exact).

Has anyone have experience with a working drive? Thanks
 
Explain what you mean by "dub." That's not typically a word used in connection with a P2 workflow. So you may be causing some confusion by using that term. A better explanation of what you are trying to do will help find a solution.

It may be that those two enclosures use to drives with a hardware RAID chip.

At least that's a theory. Try a smaller, single drive enclosure and see if that works.
