Trying to decide between the A7SII or A7RII

If you need full frame for photography then you know what to do. :-D

Yep. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Would love cleaner FF 4k like the A7Sii, and the higher frame rates for overcranking too, but the A7Rii just makes sense if I'm also venturing into photography, which I'm finding myself reluctantly doing more of on the side. :)

Silliest first world problem I'm going to have once it arrives? I don't think my current lenses will resolve the A7Rii's full resolution sensor!

Just saw the final version of a organisation video I shot a month ago with the FS7/A7SII combination and footage looks really nice. One scene were at a soccer field at night and it looks so clean and nice (A7SII) and I even had a few daytime shots looking great. It took a bit of fiddling with white balance to get the night shots to look nice and I used Slog2/Cine3.cine which turned out to be a good choice.

If I could justify it I would own both the A7RII and A7SII as the A7SII sucks a bit for stills. I've taken some very nice photos with mine but there's so much I'm missing compared to 5DIII.

Congrats, Mordy. You did not take my advice. Many a soul has fared a lot worse.

To be fair, I always appreciate and respect an opinion (especially when it was for my benefit), but your advice wasn't really applicable. :)

Yeah it's like they are designed so you need both of them, lol...if you do photos and video, that is. But I undertand the situation offering a high res photo sensor and then another aimed more at high sensitivity video. Don't think it's realistic at the present time to really be able to manufacture a camera that is a combination of both the RII and SII.

My SII arrives tomorrow. It should accomplish the video things I need
