Try to capture the moon

Has anyone tried to photo the FULL moon and get a long exposure so you can see stars and other detail? To get the exposure right for the other stuff..the senor just blows out the moon..and its a big fuzzy white ball. If i turn up the shutter to get detail of the moon..then the back ground and fourground stuff is black. Is this shot posible? ISA is on 100. Using every lens i got 1.4 to 3.+ with the same effect. Even tried nd filters. Any ideas??

double expose - first shoot the moon exposed for the moon - then shoot the stars and expose for the stores. then composite the two together

I was having similar trouble, recording video of the moon. I saw someone else on the board posted a great video of a recording they did of the moon. I gatta try again, I think one problem is i'm using the stock lens so i wasnt able to get as tight of a shot as I wanted. But the exposure has me buffudled... let me know if you find anything that works.

double shot and double expose and then composite - its the only way to get such a wide dynamic range

Or try to find a "spot ND" filter in the appropriate size; it's pretty much made for this task. It's a clear filter with a circular "spot" of ND in the center.
