Trustworthy?

I just looked through the thread on trusted locations and did not see this place on the list anywhere. I don't know how they could possibly get away selling it this cheap.

Anyway I'm going to call them regardless tomorrow... on a similar note is it relatively easy to set up an external firewire hard drive as a medium the P2 cards can store files on?

Thanks!

You really plan to do business with a company that has an @aol.com address and "professional fulid head tripods" for $299.00?

Well that is why I'm asking for other people's opinions, I feel the same way. I noticed the @aol.com just a few minutes ago and have been prying around the site looking for any evidence that they are trying to rip people off.

Evidence? The price should be enough... everybody wants a deal but they need to use common sense. About the cheapest you are going to find an HVX in stock is going to be $5500 or so...

CCI Camera City is well known, look 'em up on resellerratings... http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1734.html

They have a rating of 0.73 out of 10. Less than 1.

I don't think I've heard of anyone reputable selling it for much less than $5399. There's another thread here, HVX Price Check or something like that, which included a poll of many of the major reputable online resellers, that should give you a good idea of what the going price is.

I saw these ads on the Net a few months back, before I picked up my HVX. They were tempting. I felt like maybe I was a tool by walking into a reputable store in Hollywood and paying ~$5500 instead of getting a "deal" on the Net for such a lower price. Let me tell you, nothing beats quality assurance. Don't screw around with this.

Go buy the damn thing at a reputable place for the going-price of around $5500. Anything else is just asking for a nightmare at this point. And it's too much money to risk.

If you're in L.A., try Ametron in Hollywood. I got mine there. They are awesome.

We go through this one all the time. I believe, as well, that when my immigrant ancestors came through Ellis Island and settled on the Lower East Side, at least one of them was offered an opportunity to buy the Brooklyn Bridge. Considering my family's investment record, probably one of them did.

I am thinking that we should tell all of these folks to go ahead and order from these Brooklyn camera ganefs. I suppose the only way my ancestors learned was by trying to lay claim to the bridge they just bought. "No, you can't call it the Chayim Bridge. You don't own it, nudnik."

BTW, we were never smart enough to invest in Florida swamp property.

Wait a minute, are you telling me that you could have purchased an HVX for $72 dollars, AND owned the Brooklyn Bridge? That's just fiscal mismanagement. Who's your financial advisor?

I ordered my HVX200 from VSA (Video Service of America) for $5,257.89 (I've only seen it a few bucks cheaper a few places... that were legit anyhow). I got 2 8gb cards, an extra long-life battery, and a Portabrace Director's Case for an extra $2,851.16 (with shipping) as well. I got everything today, except for the camera -- which is due to arrive tomorrow!

Granted, it took about 2 months to get the camera from the day I ordered it -- but from what I hear that is pretty common.

Talk to Dusty -- 800 888 2140 ext. 131 (tell 'em Telebay sent ya!)

My financial advisor lives under the Brooklyn Bridge.
