Trusmt Follow focus - Thumbs up or down? Owners weigh in, please!

I did this too. I complained and they shipped me the Nf2 AND the NF1 arm mount. I also got 25$ back because since I was now effectively using an nf1 and not the nf4 that I payed for I shouldnt of had to pay for the more expensive version.

using the nf1 still isnt PERFECT, but it solves the articulating arm problem.

I see, so they shipped you the entire NF1 unit or just a rail mount? I'm confused here. Rail mount? Isn't the NF4 one unit?
Aren't they all, one unit?
I'm having issues with the arm not staying up. The articulating arm only works for me if I lie it flat.
So I'm guessing you shipped the NF4 back?

I couldn’t get the articulating arm to work either. The basic NF1 arm mount is way better. My only issue is the follow focus is still to stiff. This is probably designed for SLR lenses. I mostly use PL cine lenses that have a silky resistance and it’s a bit much when you add the FF.
I used a real deal Chrosziel 203-01 last week and it pretty much ruined me however it cost $2K so I will live with it.

Treat your self while you are on a "high". Consider it a a reward.

Thats nothing Erik!

I had to front up to my wife last week with my first tattoo.

Doctor says I am doing very well and will be eating solids tomorrow... and out of hospital next week.

I wouldn't advice anyone getting a Gini Follow Focus. Mine broke in half during a very important shoot. I had to improvise something and almost ruined my day. I bought it only a few months ago and even though is very well built in my opinion it's not reliable on a professional film set. I tried to contact the ebay seller but he doesn't reply. They always answer if you want to buy stuff. I played with a red rock micro a few years ago and I though it was ok, not great. Looking at the new blue model I see a couple of things that I like 1- Lifetime warranty 2 - adjustable backlash. The gini came with a huge backlash. I tried to fix it but it's no way you can open that thing! I guess its ok if you want a follow focus for learning.

I'm buying something better now because I shoot a lot and can't afford a new follow focus every 3 months!... I think the red rock blue could be a good buy. Too many people seem to complain about the trusmt FF. I bought a 5dmkII cage from them. It's just fine. The lanparte seems better though and I don't hear many complaints from Lanparte buyers...

I love happy endings.

I ordered the NF-4 on Monday after 3pm. It arrived here, in Florida, yesterday afternoon (from China), in 3 days.
Appears to be solid, well made.
I immediately experienced the problem others have had with the arm and was preparing to make the run to Home Depot but thought I’d message the eBay seller (trusmt2011).
Within hours I had a response offering me a “new improved” arm and the base for the NF-1.
The only asked that I pay the DHL shipping of $20.

Then . . .

I happened to look in the box and discovered they had included an NF-1 base as well!
Yes, there was also a bag with spare bolts of varying description, and two Allen wrenches.
It took me about 2 minutes to affect the switch, removing then replacing 2 screws.
Instructions (had there been any) would have been unnecessary (even for me).

I am pleased to report the following:

This thing is a rock!
The action is steady & smooth and backlash is non-existent.
The hard stops are easy to figure out and work perfectly.
If you were to hold the gear rings up against the RedRock you wouldn’t see any difference, period.
Someone said earlier that these compare favorably with the RR version 2 . . .
I would disagree strongly with that, this one takes the prize.

If this one wears out, gets broken, stolen, whatever . . . I’ll just buy another one just like it.
Solid FF in the sub $500 category?
Problem solved.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Get one!

(nope, I don't have any affiliation with the seller . . . except that I am a satisfied customer).

My TrusMT FF is great- I love it. No backlash that I can find, in fact my old Nikkors have more play in the focus rings than the FF has in its gear box (which is none). I opted for the basic rod mount and skipped the articulating arm- and resold all of those lens gears as I find them a pain to work with. I then put these on all my primes:

you can get them here in the states:

> got a Trusmt Follow Focus NF1 and it came defective :(

And? How about just contact their support and get replacement. Rare things can also happen, but their support is superb.

They make extremely good FF.

Whelp, looks like I'm giving the TrusMT a go. The baggage handlers somehow managed to destroy the follow focus that was in my bag, so I need something quick! I'll give my reports once I get it.

I like the TrusMT for the most part. It’s very in expensive so I think you get a lot for the price. I think it might be a tad stiff but if you use SLR lenses this is a plus. I just ordered a Tilta Follow Focus and will do a review when I get it.

Is the stiffness adjustable at all? I just an O'Connor FF on the shoot yesterday and it's going to be hard to go back!

Nope. Cant adjust the stiffness. I used an Arri a while back and that ruined me. So smooth. These are designed mainly for SLR lenses so thats probably why they are stiffer. I'm hoping the Tilta isn't. We shall see.

I bought my friend's TrusMT from him a while back and I love it! SO smooth, much better than my indifocus ff. Unfortunately he gave it to me without the hard stops for some reason, but even still - great bang for the buck follow focus.

I just recieved my TrusMT FF in the mail, and I must say I am pleasantly surprised. It's not Arri or O'Connor, but for $350 it's a very nice build quality. Very happy that due to the dual gears I can have the FF on the dumb side of the camera and have my MB up against the lens.

I just received the Tilta follow focus and my first impression is positive. Not stiff at all. Much less than the TrusMT. This is a good thing for me since I use cine lenses as much as SLR. I’m a little concerned with the weight. Haven’t tested it out yet on my rig but so far looks really good!
