trouble transfering from p2 to MacBook Pro

I've transfered the "no name" drive files into a named folder and unlocked all the files then eject the P2 drive from the desktop then open final cut and import p2 find the files and they are all there but when i import it says files "one or more p2 clips failed to import; probable incomplete or corrupt clips"

if anybody has any suggestions please!!

Whats your exact workflow for transfering footage to you mac? How do you get the mxf off your P2 cards? why bother unlocking the files once copied to your hhd?

It could well be just one clip that has a problem and it's throwing the import for all the clips. Try importing them in small batches of 5 or 10 and see if you can isolate the bung one.

First of all, FCP 5.0.1 is not a UB version of the application. So you are trying to run it in Rosetta on a MBP Intel? Is that correct?

You will have issues.

If you were to upgrade to FCP 5.1.4, you could install Panasonics P2CMS software and try viewing your footage there. Last I checked the software is free and on a couple of occasions it proved to be a great sanity check point when FCP was acting up.

Ho...

You cannot upgrade without cost from 5.0x to to 5.1.x which is the Intel/UB native version.

That cross grade expired nine months ago after being available for 15 months and was only $49.00.

Guess I assumed he had the FCP upgrade and was referring to the P2CMS software being free. Bad assumption but thought for sure one would have upgraded to the UB FCP Studio when it was offered so reasonably. :)
