I recently switched from cutting in FCP to cutting in Avid and the P2 workflow has been a living hell for me. In addition to a remedy for my problem below, I'd love it if anybody knew of any .PDF's that had a good breakdown for working with different formats from P2 in Avid Xpress Pro.
I shot some footage on the HVX200 in 1080 24PA mode and tried to bring it into Avid Xpress Pro 5.6.2 using the MediaTool. I tried adding footage to the timeline in a 1080p 23.976 project and a 1080p 24 project and neither worked. Avid kept telling me that the footage was 2997. The only way I can edit the footage is in a 1080i 59.94 project.
How can I get my 1080 24PA DVCPRO HD footage into a 24fps timeline? And would the 1080 24PA footage go in a timeline set to 24 or 23.976?
I'd be very greatful to anybody who could shed some light on this subject for me.
