tripods

What tripod are people using that they are happy with? I've setting my budget between $1000 and $2000. I'll be traveling with this tripod, so weight and quick set up and adjustment is important to me.

My current tripod has a floor spreader. I don't like it. I've used a Miller Solo. I goes high and it goes low. However, it's a bit slow and awkward to set up and strike. Also, I wasn't totally happy with the head (perhaps it was a DV10).

I'm looking at a Sachtler FSB head but haven't decided on legs.

I bought a Manfrotto 745CX3 (carbon fibre legs) and a 701 HDV head from BH photo for $550. It weighs about 6 lbs total and sets up quickly. I travel with mine as well and it seems to be holding up. I'm an old school guy who likes locked off shots, so I don't really do much panning or zooming, the 701HDV is perfect for me. But if you do a lot of long telephoto with pans and zooms, you might want a head with a little more weight to it.

Cheers

Check out the Cartoni Focus. There is an article on it in article section. I think it's a cut above the bogus, I mean bogen tripods.

Trevor, checkout our eBay Store if you decide on a Sachtler. You'll see our prices are lower than any of the big name online retailers.
