Tripods

Okay, I'm sure that's sarcasm...but huh? I mean literally will the camera work/screw in with my current tripod or do I need a new system? Sorry if I don't get the joke......?

Hey guys, I currently have an HVX and am eyeing the Canon 7d...I'm not even sure if my current tripod ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/502679-REG/Matthews_M25_M25_Tripod_System.html ) will work with it...if not I'd love some great (and cheap-ish) solutions - thanks!

Mark.

I've wanted to get my hands on one of those feisol carbon fiber tripods for some time. I don't know what head I'd use on it though, probably something that outweighs the weight benefit from the carbon fiber.

Carbon fiber is over rated. It's like the hockey sticks, now all the kids want some carbon 200$ hockey sticks for better performance.

I don't remember which thread a guy placed on a tripod with a fluid head and a back handle and he used it as an steady cam ( in his hand by the grip handle). It looked like a pretty tripod to me. The guy sent pictures of him with a water fall in the back using the tripod. It looked cheesy but convincing to me.

That would be my un-american dry brit sense of humor. :) Boy did I have trouble when I first moved state-side back in the 90's.
The cam is so lightweight that you can't go wrong, literally any tripod will support it with varying degrees of effectiveness
and don't worry about screws, there will always be an adapter plate in the unlikely event that it doesn't fit (1/4 20).

For lightweight run around town 'I don't wanna carry to much' you could use a gorillapod
(I used this one a lot with my GH1 when travelling)

for a small fluid head setup I use Bogen 701HDV
(v.good if you are a 1 man band like me)

and the tripod you already have is fine too. Other's you could use are the 501HDV, 503HDV even 516HDV or Libec 22 if you want true fluid heads and don't mind the weight.
