Why is noone mentioning the Bogen MdeVe 755 and the Gitzo 2380? Rush sold me that setup about 2 weeks ago, and I'm happy with it. Such a beast looking tripod compared to what I had before
I have the 755 and love it. Am looking for another tripod though, just to get something different. the 755 is lightweight but sturdy. you don't feel like it will topple over. quick and easy to set up--affordable. as opposed to some heavier tripods, where they are so heavy you'd rather leave them behind.. one might take this one up if you were going on a hike or a long stretch of beach. with the 503 head, I've been set. My friend has the carbon fiber version and loves that too, but it is so light, it does make you wonder..
any other recs, I'm listening. I need another set of stix for a very tall shooter, a big guy, so I guess it doesn't matter too much if its heavy. I guess it would be nice to stay with a similar Bogen so that we can use the same plates. maybe I'll just get another 755
on another note. we are looking to replace a tripod I may have recommened earlier..a Sanford and Davis (Tiffen) , FM18. It was a very good deal at first , bag and all, $289...but my shooter is starting to complain about it. he is 6'3. says it doesn't go high enough. I think its pretty smooth.
