Tripod

Hey guys,

I'm trying to put together a lightweight tripod for my 7D. I'm a one-man show and need something lightweight yet sturdy.

I was contemplating marrying a feisol CT-3442 with a Libec H22.

Any thoughts? Good or bad idea?

That's why they call it magic! Question is, would you leave your camera on it and walk far enough away not to be able to catch it if it fell over?

I have the libec h22 w/ my 5d laying on rails wFF and and some other stuff. its really a beast, I love it. With the extra weight the pan and tilt seem just about right. I have used it without the extras and its a little heavy duty for just the cam.

I was concerned that the 7D by itself wouldn't be enough to engage the fluid action on the H22. I suppose it's going to be the 701HDV then!

I don't know what you mean here... You should be able to "engage the fluid action" on any fluid head even without any load on it. But the 701HDV is simply more compact, which is what I imagine you'd want for your purposes. The H22, an excellent head I'm sure, seems like overkill.

I don't know what you mean here...

Perhaps I worded it wrong. It seems like fluid heads without drag settings need to have a certain amount of mass on them to feel right. It's like tossing granny's false teeth into the grass. When they land, they stick rather then skitter out into the street.

Gotcha. I see what you mean now.
