what would you suggest for a tripod to suit the GH2 and a few accerories like LED light Z96 and panasonic mic

Depends on what/where you're shooting too. Get legs and a head that can support not only your camera, but also a slider, monitor.... If you ever get any accessories you'll kick yourself if you also have to get new support gear.

I lot of people get the Manfrotto 516 or 519, but I would suggest something more along the lines of a Cartoni, Sachtler, or Vinten. Yes, it will cost. But the money you spend now getting it right the first time, will save you many more times over down the road.

If you have to do it in stages, I would spend the money now on the head, and get a cheap (but heavy and not very portable) set of legs that you upgrade later. A cheap but workable set of legs will cost around $100. If you need to throw them away for something better later you aren't loosing much. But spend $500 now on an okay head and then need a better one later.... You get the point.

One thing to keep in mind, if you're planing on doing a lot of video, then most of the really good heads use bowls not flat base, for mounting the heads. So with a cheap tripod that has a flat base you'll need a bowl adapter, like the Manfrotto 325N. Of course, that adds about $75.

Hope this helps.

Best thing would be something like the Vinten Vision Blue. This really is excellent for small cameras - as good as it gets really. It's a touch outside your budget at $1150, but well worth it.

If you can't afford that, consider something like the Libec H38. The legs themselves are superb, and the head is good, but not as versatile as the Vinten but could be upgraded later.
