Tripod mount question

Does anyone know if there is a way to mount a regular 75mm fluid head to a normal photo tripod. I am looking for a tripod that spreads out for extremely low shots and the most affordable ones are with photography heads, not ideal for panning ect. I only need it for very few shots, most of which will be static anyway but it would be nice to mount my fluid head on there for simple pans if needed.
 
Hey Tony, these legs will open to almost 180 horiz so the bottom of the head is 4 inches off the ground. Center column comes out and has a shorter replacement which is included. $160. They fit all bogen heads and gitzo heads LINK

True. I figured if Tony's is considering a stills tripod he is probably on a bogen head. Bogen heads come off the bowl. It would attach to the above tripod allowing you to get 4 inches off the ground and you would level with the legs.
The above linked tripod would be good with a bogen 701hdv, 501 or 503hdv.
 
I didnt know that either J. Thanks. I actually have a crappy Davis and Sanford Tripod right now. It gets the job done but I am in need of an upgrade anyway, just was looking to hold off on that for at least the next few shoots I have coming up. I want a good low tripod and also lighter for doing stills work also. I was most likely going for the Bogen 503 head anyway so that would be great if it comes off the ball and I can use it on the photo tripod also. I was just hoping for now I could get away with some option of mounting my 75mm ball head on the tripod with maybe an adapter or something.
 
The bogen heads when they come off the bowl have a 3/8" hole with 16 thread, same as gitzo.
I would recommend proper legs.

Were you thinking of putting a bogen head on top of the stills tripod head?
Problem with that is you will get wiggle in the stills head which will affect any smooth panning You will also need to get a 1/4 20 to 3/8 16 bushing LINK
 
No I dont want to put the head on the stills head. I just meant the sticks that do not have a proper 75mm bowl. If the Bogen head can come off and mount right to the screw, thats what I would like to do.
 
Actually if you just by the head you don't get the ball. That comes separately. Underneath is a 3/8 hole with 16 thread

Wow, I never really looked at that. I just took mine apart and the head does come off the ball also. So I guess I can mount it to the other but I wonder how leveleling would go without the ball. I would probably have to just level by adjusting the legs. I still think I will upgrade to the Bogen also. Thanks for all the info J.
