I picked up a cheapy tripod for photo use, but wondering if I can get some marginal video use from it. It's a Sunpack 7500 with the removable monopod. Not a true video head, but not bad, very sturdy, probably a little too heavy for just the weight of the GH1. I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with the components, mostly plastic. If it would be okay to lube up the head a little to get it to pan/tilt smoother? Maybe some graphite or light sewing machine oil? I don't want to hit it with anything that's going to eat away at the plastics.
