Tripod legs...

So i need new tripod legs, the ones I have now are... I believe the forum appropriate way to say this is... poo. So I am looking for something better.

So far I came up with:
Manfrotto 3181 Lightweight

Libec T85

I am trying to keep costs as low as possible while still using B&H cause I have a gift certificate there, and I also need to get a mic.

Any help would be good...

Thanks,
Dory

eh, I got the same pair and head you do. It's light weight and atleast we don't look that stupid. I can't stand when people have massive $1500 tripods that can support a betacam, but they toss their prosumer cam on top of it. What's the point. I might want slightly beefier legs, but not like anything that dewarfs the camera.

Mostly I am after something that will stay steady! These legs are good for climbing around the forest and DH trails when they are collapsed! But once I open them up they become really wobbly, so much that I have to gold them down with one hand>.<. Also these wont support a crane when I get once next fall, and I need something better for the summer long project I am doing...

dory,

Don't know how big your rig is, but I've got the Manfrotto 055XBPro legs and they are plenty stable for my DVX. I travel with mine so I had to balance things out and not go too big. I'm not sure how well they'd do with a crane.

Cheers,

John
