A lot of people like the bogen 501/503 for the head.

is there a big difference between the HDV, should i spend the extra money? I understand it holds more weight, but is it going to be like omg you don't have the 503HDV?! haha loser! and what about the quick release?

3460 (503) Pro Video Head (Quick Release) - Supports 13.2 lb (6 kg)
503HDV Professional Video Fluid Head- Supports 17.6 lbs (8.0 kg)
