Tripod Height booster?

Hey, I'm going to be buying a tripod that's only 5 feet tall maximum. I like all the other features on it, so I don't want to sacrifice that for a few inches of height. I'm wondering what a good, study solution would be to boost my tripod height besides putting it on a table? Maybe put it up on some sort of block like objects? Anyone got any ideas for a height boost?

well, if the tripod feet have spikes, you could just cut some 4x4 inch wood into cubes and predrill holes on the top for the spikes to rest in...problem will be in the leveling of the tripod once you introduce these types of additions. but on flat surfaces, you'll have approx 4 extra inches of height.

It would be a flat surface. I was thinking something along wood blocks but I wasn't sure how stable they'd be, even with spikes in them. Also, I was hoping to get around 6-8 inch boost, but I'll probably try this anyway. Thanks.

4x4s will work...remember to try to drill holes at a similar angle that the spikes on your tripod feet will stick out...

6-8 inches of height is asking for a new tripod.....BUT, with any method, you might also wanna grab some ankle weights or something to attach to the spreader, or some portion of your tripod, to add weight to your tripod....keeps things nice and stable. best of luck!

If it would work for your needs, I'd go with the Filmtools 8" riser.

One part instead of 3, easier to transport (you could put it on your tripod head and leave it), probably more stable, too.

very stable. so stable I'm contemplating getting 4 more and use them as my center post on my dolly... modular, different heights... love it.

i guess i was recommending a more DIY type answer, but Rodney's suggestion is far better, just a few more bucks and no time spent making something.
