Trimming P2 clips

lets say your just shot a scene but for some reason continued recording for a an extra minute or so. Is it possible to bring up that clip and trim that extra time off while the clip is still on the p2 card in the camera?

nope. unfortunately not at this time. But, it has been a popular feature request for a future update.

I don't know whether or not it could be added via a simple firmware update, or if it would have to be incorporated into a later HVX release though.

Later,
Jason

Not in an HVX200 or HPX500. You can do it in the HPX2000, HPX2100, or HPX3000 though, and you can also do it in the P2 Gear and the P2 Mobile.

Trip P2 Clips in in p2 viewer?

Trip P2 Clips in in p2 viewer?

Yes, but is it possible in the p2 viewer for mac OR any other solution before saving in FCP so that one does not have to eat up hard drive space??

Actually what I'm trying to do is store stock footage. So when I check my p2 clips, I then usually want to trip the front and backside so that I don't have to archive worthless space.

Is this possibe?

You can trim the clips while importing into FCP.

It's not a good idea to get rid of your original MXFs, though.

Yes, that's exactly what I want to do is to trim the mxf's before I import them and then archive the trimmed clips. Is this at all possible?
Also, why is it that a .mov clip is not as good as an mxf---for my archives? Why is it not recommended to use my .mov clips for my archive--seems I can trim them in FCP and output as .mov and archive for later use in my stock footage - no?

Thanks
