Is it possible and how do you use the firewire output to send out DV video to a computer and simultaneously also record 720p to P2 Cards?

You can only be in tape or p2 mode at one time.

I don't need to record to tape, I only want to view the 480i video on my computer.
Firewire will only output what the camera is set too, so if your shooting 720, it'll output 720.
If you want to be able to monitor SD on your computer i'd take component out and monitor it through a capture card into the machine.
Or to go real budget you could go composite out the camera, into another camera or deck and use it as a A-D passthrough and take the firewire out. Composite out of the camera is always SD.

firewire is outputting while you are recording. you want something like On Location for PC (part of Adobe CS3 suite), or the Mac app (name escapes me). these apps provide a monitoring, scopes and recording function.
