I hooked up my HVX and fire wire to my mac and held down the MCR button until the 1394 device displayed. The icon popped up on my desktop wich said "No Name" and when I looked for video files they were blank with a lock on them?? Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or didnt do. Thanks!

Cason.

The NO NAME volume represented by the icon contains a LASTCLIP.txt file and a CONTENTS folder with six other folders, one of which is VIDEO.

In it our MXF video files, which can be imported into FCP 5.0.4 to 6.0.2 or viewed in P2CMS, p2 Log, or using Raylight if FCP is installed.

You might detail what Mac, what OS, what v. of QT, and FCP you have.

We can't see your set up from here.

David, I have a Mac Book Pro OS X version 10.4.10. I also have Final Cut Pro version 5.1. I recently just got the HVX. There is a P2 installation cd with it. I am trying to off load the contents of 2 4 gb p2 cards via fire wire. I tried installing the cd. Would that have anything to do with it? Did I do it correctly? What is the best way to get the footage into FCP? I have just been capturing it but that defeats the beautiful purpose of the P2 time saving device. Thanks for your help.

Cason

Install the Mac p2 drivers from this site:

http://panasonic.sixbullets.net/

not the CD.

If you have copied the whole NO NAME volume to your HDD from the card, then launch FCP 5.1.4, and use the import p2 volume in the edit menu.

You have to look at the manual a little bit in the help menu.

Also the phrase "when I looked for video files they were blank with a lock on them" is meaningless.

You don't look for the files. You launch FCP and import them
