Transfer from PC to MiniDV Tape using DVX

Hi guys,
First of all hi everyone. I am a filmmaker and this is my first post. I tried looking for the answer to this today using online searches and even searching on this forum. Being pressed for time I am posting this question now and appologise if this has been answered before.

I am trying to transfer my film to MiniDV from FCP project's Quicktime file. Can I use my DVX102B camcorder to do this rather than hiring a MiniDV deck? If yes, how?

Many thanks for any positive responses.
Best regards :)

Simply connect the camera to your computer with FireWire. Switch the DVX to VTR mode, insert a blank tape, and start the camera recording. Just be aware that you won't get a frame-accurate in-point on the tape when using the camera this way.

You can play your FCP timeline out to tape straight from FCP. Or use "Print to Video" which will start the video playing after you manually start the camera recording. You can try and use "Edit to Tape," but again the DVX really doesn't have frame-accurate editing control.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have done as advised.

The 'Print to Video' option makes the DVX camcorder start recording, it starts the tape and REC comes up as it plays. But throughout the process the LCD on the DVX stays blank and when replayed it comes out blank and soundless. I am going to keep trying different permutations. If you there any suggestions to what I may need to do then they are most welcome.

Got it ! Same as you said. Just wasn't pressing rec button on DVX when prompted by FCP. I would click Ok on FCP and the REC would start on DVX however actually I needed to press the rec button on DVX first, then click OK on FCP's dialogue box (when using the print to video option). Minor adjustment but one that made it work. God bless. Thanks

Urgh. Same problem again. This time nothing is working. Quicktime AVI file from FCP to DVX (MiniDV Tape). Will keep tying but it seems erratic. Any ideas guys?
