Trailers and Clips for $9000 LIMBO black and white DV feature

ROKOKO,
I totally and absolutely support and agree with you in regards to "IT'S TIME WE GET OUR FILMS OUT THERE". It is the same thing with the Music industry. Gorilla singers and rappers can easily get their songs played on the radios and on TVs stations but Movies can not be played in theaters, what da hell is that about?. I know it is a lot of money to advertise and sh* but there are some superb indie movie makers on this site and dvinfo.net and if someone can just give these guys just 1 chance, I am sure the whole movie industry will just #$%^&*, Rodrigues and Tarantino did it and there are a lot of people out there too that can do it.

These are some of my input.
If we can cut a deal with theaters, TV stations on percentage payments, since we don't have the big bucks for adverts and initial placing these films in theaters, but a defered % payment should be able to get things started.

Any of the TV stations and theaters can easily go to festivals and pick the movie they believe will hit big and show it to the ever waiting movie goers.

We don't mind if they can't show it on weekends, but just the fact that you can enter a theater and gwam, you are seeing your work in theaters will definitely make you feel good and tell the lady beside you, did you know that I made that movie!.

Guys, I know we have people, yes people on this site that can make things happen.
We have people on this forum sites that work at TV stations and have access to theaters, etc. Danmit guys, lets do something and stop hoping these movies get premiered at festivals only, and at the end, nothing happens.

If we can get TV stations to do at least 20 secs commercials and Theaters to show it even if it is on weekdays and week nights, hey, that is something. If your movie is off da chain, guess what, the word will spread and maybe they can even start showing it during the weekends, why, because the more money the movie makes, the higher pay the theaters cash in on their %.

This is simple maketing strategy.

Another thing is, the owner of this site (dvxuser), I don't know who he/she is, but I am sure he/she gets paid well by all these companies advertising on this site and guess what, if you, me, and all these other poeple don't come to this site, then I guess this site won't be as big as it is.
Yes, we gain a lot, a real lot from coming here to ask questions about how to do this and that, but after you learnt everything but still you can't prove your self.

So I suggest if anyone that knows the owner (moderators) should suggest this. They need to get in contact with all these Camcorder companies (sony, pana., jvc) etc that it is high time they support indie movies and help us get our movies into the theaters.
We can't be burning grands of $$$$ on their product and they can not help us get somethin out there, I think that's rediculous.

They make money out of us, by we buying their products, right?. So why don't they make more money by supporting and helping us get our own products where it needs to be.

It is the wish and joy of every indie film maker to get his film in theaters, there's no other joy than that.

That is my 1.111 cents.
I really think this should be a topic on it's own and if someone can just copy and send this to the moderators, kings and queens of this site, that will be great.

I mean, think about it for a sec. there are Hollywood movies that sucks more than a 4 years old carrying a $300 walmart camcorder video his/her poo and you wonder how da f* did this movie make it to the theaters, when there are thousands of awesome movies out there by indie guys, sweating to get a distributor.

My ambition is to set up an anti hollywood tha makes films by independent filmmakers with a budget cap. i.e. nothing can be over a certain ammount and stars salaries are also capped. That way we'll see who really has what it takes and loves film and who's just in it for the dollars.

That would be beautiful, but realistically, this anti-hollywood will eventually become the machine it was furiously against in the beginning. There's always some suit out there who will buy an artist's soul.

Anybody interested in the name of the composer for Limbo - it's Andrew David Daniels. I actually saw a film he'd scored a couple of months ago, called Searching For Wooden Watermelons. Good indie film, btw, and his music is really lovely on that flick. The Limbo music sounds really awsome on the website. Love to hear the full score. Can't wait to see the film too!

It is inevitable that this would happen. I do believe that it is best for filmmakers to take back the control of the industry in much the same way musicians are taking back control of the recording industry. Kazaa, Napster and Acquisition are blessings in disguise. It now means that the playing field has been leveled once again and barriers to entry removed or reduced. With the downturn in the movie industry this year, it is clear that the product is not up to the standard people expect. If talented indie filmmakers can fill that void, then every good director out there has a chance at turning things around. Film making became a business and not an artform. The two have to co-exist but the balance is unfairly in the favour of making money.

He's a great composer. Hopefully the soundtrack will get a release around the same time as the film in January.

I'm indifferent here (BUT IT LOOKS GREAT!):

I don't know what to think of the pseudo-newscast/It's a Wonderful Life look.

If it works for the flick then DO IT.

Like the stuff... a LOT

Absolutely Waht I Wantted

I just viewed the site and its done very well. It has a nice ambience, just like the movie. When is it out on general release? I hope it has many special features. I heard some important scenes which were left out of the promotional cut might be re-attached!

thanks. The trailers seem to be working. Which link did you use? the website or the ifilm one? what browser do u use and what version of quicktime? those could all be factors.
