Trailers and Clips for $9000 LIMBO black and white DV feature

Yeah it's the best way because you really never know. Most of the major festivals are NOT independent film fests anymore. They have totally ben hijacked by big money and hollywood...oh and every actor who decides to make a movie about something he or she cares about! It means the little guys cant ven get into indie fests which were made for people that nevr stood a chance in hollywood. Sad really. Tarantino and Rodriguez helped and hindered us all!

Good luck with your film. I saw the trailer and it looks solid. Will need to see more to know exactly what it's about though.

Thanks for checking it out. The trailer that's on the way will give more of an idea of what it's all about. I agree with you about the festival scene. It's very frustrating knowing that many of the films you are competing against were made by big names with millions of dollars, yet they are still supposed to be 'indie'...

We just have to keep doing our thing like greased up def guy...

Keep us updated on LIMBO.

I think it looks great. By the way, where's the Canon XL forum
there isn't one. I think the camera is too old to have its own forum maybe. I mean to be honest it isn't even as good a s a pd150 in my opinion. A great camera in its day but it has been well superceded.

Incredible effort... easily the most professionally done work on DV I've seen.

The compositions, lighting and angle shots are right up there with the big guys. Stuff I aspire to.

Almost makes me want to get the XLs Canon.

Would you have preferred the upcoming HVX or even the DVX, given that you needed to have Filmlook done to it later?

I really appreciate your words. I have a great crew to thank. Yeah a DVX would have saved us SO much time and money. We did it the hard way to get it to look anything like film. It look MUCH better on your dvd player than on the web though believe me. You can't tell how well this DV came out on compressed quicktime files.

Don't get an XL1 S if you can afford a 24p camera like a DVX. We used it because we had no choice. Hopefully you'll get the DVD where we will talk about exactly what it took to get this film made. Not just technical stuff, but how to deal with people and the harshness of the industry when you're at the bottom.

I can't get any of your trailers or samples to load. I've actually waited almost 20 mins just to load a trailer and nothing. Just keeps buffering... I really want to see what this film is all about! Eh, maybe next time.

Hmmm are you using explorer with flash and quicktime installed? Explorer is best and on a pc for best results. I mean it works for most people but metscape sometimes is a problem. At worst you can watch it on ifilm. I put the link to it on the first page in this thread. Both the teaser and the long trailer are on ifilm.com. Careful though, there are a lot of limbo's on ifilm so using the link in this thread is the best way. Try explorer for the website though. Will be cool to see the clips and all the other stuff.

you know i really believe we can take control of the indie scene if real indie filmmakers support each other and stop trying to go hollywood lite. FOr this film I am really aiming to get grassroots support from guys like you all. Word of mouth goes a long long way. Before you know it, you have a cult film on your hands if you are lucky or at least a film that people want to see. I n short, SPREAD THE WORD! visit the site later in the week and join the LIMBO forum and get chatting about your morality hahaha :engel017:

I think it was a great teaser.
I liked the look, the sound was great and all.
I don't know if you have answered this earlier on, but did you use voice over or on-set audio recording?.

Count me in. We're in this together, until one of us makes it big, sells out taking a gig to direct Guess Who 2: Guess Who Is The Baby's Daddy, and forgets all the little people... ha ha... Seriously, nice sentiments, we need to support each other.

Yes there was voiceovr in the actual movie and some in the trailer. It was recorded in a studio. Most of the film is production sound though. Think a typical film noir black and white movie but with about a quarter the usual amount of voiceover.

Chance, yeah it can happen man. Seriously, I am going to fight for it. The movie industry is out of control. Real fans are getting squeezed out in favor of big business and teenagers who couldn't care less about real movie making or unique and interesting cinema. I'm hoping to get the ball rolling big enough to start a new world order!!!! A alternate hollywood...FANIWOOD...INDIEWOOD...ok whatever...seriously though think about it. If we all bought each others films (as long as they were decent) for like 10 to 15 bucks we'd all have enough to live and make bigger and better films. I can't tll you how many times i spent money on hollywood films that SUCK so bad I wanted a refund...why not spend it on some poor kid's flick that he made for nothing and actually has some real love in it? I man some indie filmmakers are hacks. I hate all those slasher films and nonsense like that, but take a guy like carugon (dvxuser member) and ancanar...i mean we all gotta support that dude. He really worked hard obviously. Anyway fingers crossed LIMBO sells 10 000 copies its first month haha

If it does i'll throw a dvxuser party lol

OH I almost forgot!

THE LIMBO FORUM IS WORKING NOW. Go to the site and register and have some deep convos on existential topics and the nature of morality. You know you want to. Invite your friends. Come one come all!!!

so when do you think the dvd will be out?

Well we are in review phase at the moment. We are done with fests and are just waiting to get the reviews in the next two weeks. After that it will be a hard grind to put together the bonus disc and change some unlicensed songs to ones we have ready. Our goal was to kick off slow promotion now with a view to a late december or early January release date. (still have to sign the distribution deal with the distributor and iron out details etc). After that it should hit netflix, blockbuster and Virgin, walmart etc

I really believe it will be indie filmmakers like me and you that will get this film a foothold. It is a movie for people that like and know movies. When you see it you'll know what I mean. I dunno how good you'll think it is, that is up to you obviously, but I am sure you will find it very nostalgic of movies of old.

Release DEFINITELY by January. Maybe Decembr if things go super fast.

What month do YOU think would be a better one to release such a film?

:undecided

ROKOKO, again, I agree with you. Even most independent movies are uninteresting, unoriginal, crap... the entire state of movies is just incredibly boring, you have to search to find the stuff that is pushing the envelope (Korea is doing it at the moment)

Something has to change, ticket sales are down, Hollywood is just continuing to rehash every comic book, novel, or videogame they can...

Let's start a new cinematic revolution. It's about time.

Have you heard of Ray Carney?

Who's Ray Carney?

Yeah i think real movie fans have to take control of this thing. I mean guys in suits are running the show for an artisitic commodity. Sad. I am so serious about this. My ambition is to set up an anti hollywood tha makes films by independent filmmakers with a budget cap. i.e. nothing can be over a certain ammount and stars salaries are also capped. That way we'll see who really has what it takes and loves film and who's just in it for the dollars. I think hollywood should stay, but we need a real alternative where young talent can roam free. I mean zeta jones won an oscar what th hell is that supposed to mean?

ROKOKO Got Qtime 7 but still links and scenes don't work. Thanks

You should try internet explorer not netscape or safari if you're on mac. Best is explorer. If it still doesn't work, use the link to the trailers on ifilm that i put in the opening post of this thread. However I E works well for the site.
