OTHER: Trailer: The lost calls

Just for fun, I took some footage I had from a previously unfinished project and made it into a trailer for a movie. I tried to put a completely different spin on what the footage was initially meant for.

There's a local Trailer Festival coming up so I thought I would give it a try. Aside from the crappy titles I would be really interested in what everyone thinks. Is it interesting? Too long? Too short? Too vague?

Let me know.

EDIT: Made some suggested changes and threw it up on Vimeo.

Impressive. Love the haunting music.

One thing, though. In your text, capitalize "city" as "City" (City is part of the name New York City) and "officer" to "Officer" (where its says "officer Garez". When used as a title, it gets the upper case)

Thanks, Marlon. It's not a prize winning fest, just for show.

Thanks, Doc! I totally missed the caps there. Justin Durban did the original score. Really great work by him for sure.

Thanks for the comments! Really useful.

Loved your clip. Very nice work.

If you have a sec maybe you can watch a trailer I made and let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Hi Michael

I think the trailer is very good. I loved the concept. It would make a great movie. Also, the footage looks very pro.

I do have some suggestions:

How about ending the tailer with some hint at what actually happens to the officers? This can be done in the soundtrack. You could fade to black right after the door closes, then add the sound of a really violent struggle against a black screen... then go to the title "The Last Call" (I took the liberty of changing the title a bit)

Another suggestion I have is to completely rework the text. As it stands right now, it's too long and too much information. This is a teaser trailer and all we need to know is the concept of the movie. So I would take out all the unnecessary details like names, that it'a true story, who-did-what-to-whom, etc.

It could go something like this:

TEXT: "In a world..."

FOOTAGE: Officer entering building.

TEXT: "Where An Officer's duty is to respond..."

FOOTAGE: Officer entering the room.
AUDIO: Police radio call.

TEXT: "One call keeps on coming..."

FOOTAGE: The door shuts violently (Speed up footage?)

FLASH-CUT TO BLACK

AUDIO: Sound of violent supernatural struggle against black screen
AUDIO: Police radio "Officer down, officer dow," etc

GO TO TITLE: "THE LAST CALL"

I would also change the font to make it look more movieish. Even better if it moves a bit to make it feel more dynamic. You can use software like Apple's Motion. It has some built in templates that would make it very easy.

I hope this helps :-)

Thanks! Great feedback. As I said in the first post, the text font is lame. :). I'll get someone else to fix that.
You can actually hear a creature and a human bloodcurdling scream at the end. I hear it on my iMac pretty clearly. Probably not as great on a laptop or similar device. Did you hear it?

Yeah, the info needs to be condensed for sure. Thanks again for the thorough review.
Much appreciated.

PS - Lost Calls represents the fact that the calls to dispatch were lost/not received for 10 years. That and there were numerous calls from various officers on the scene. Not just one last call.

If things change that would be a cool title though.
