FEATURE: TRAILER - SUPERSEEDS | Super Powered Adventure

Sorry if I missed the info somehow, but is there a new marketing plan in place for Superseeds?

Nope! No new marketing. Just need to get a new trailer up because it's almost a year since the first one (yeah, that long).

Yikes.

It's already past mid April Kholi! Don't leave us hanging in here! We need more information! :D

xD Nothing interesting really to report. It's still in finishing phase. Didn't expect it to take so long but looking back at it, I should have! We had about 400 vfx shots, and it's not stuff like muzzle flashes or blood splatters. Nearly every shot in the large scene at the end required rotoscoping, compositing, and some lighting effects.

Got more sound/score back, first time today hearing an entire scene pretty much finished off audio-wise and it's pretty inspiring.

I kinda want to stay quiet until it's done, a new trailer's up and we know what we're doing with it as far as distributing. And, well, we still need a poster. X_x

It's a lot of work but looks like ya'll are tackling it.

It is a lot of work. Me thinks the sad thing is that it's just a lot of work for everyone in post, more than it was for me? I dunno, maybe I'm crazy. But, when we initially sat down and broke down VFX shots my friend and I were like "Oh this is gonna go quick."

The only thing that went quick about it was that notion. However, as of writing this today, VFX are like ninety five to ninety eight percent done. Some of the stuff I had been dreading has finally taken its final form. Dunno how other people will take it, but it's definitely beyond the budget, and I can only be thankful for great friends with crazy powers.

Any plans for VoD markets in the UK anytime soon? :)

THere's a distro plan, couldn't say how soon it'd go overseas. I'm going to satisfy the Kickstarter pledges first, then carry on with the mission, but likely it'll be a self distributed effort. Wouldn't say it's a backup plan by any means, but part of the main plan.

Nobody said that making movies would be easy. You're taking on a genre that isn't the least expensive nor the least time consuming. Add the upkeep of this social media and the hours rack up. Think of it this way. If you didn't enjoy it, you would've quite 365 days ago (or something like that).

It's trial and error mixed with education from others that have done it before. Then mix it again with what other people think and you have a product. I think of it like the music industry. Most investors nowadays are looking for a finished album. The A&Rs don't necessarily groom like they used to. You have to be a finished product (I reference Souljah Boy again). Ya'll have done quite a bit of work already on Superseeds. I feel that the money is there for finishing and for distro. It's just up to you to find it.

LOL. That picture is great.

Believe it or not we're about to hit the last few steps: color, 5.1 mix, and titles/credits. Score just finished up which was a process, and most of the sound design.

Also need to get a poster done.

Wish it could move faster, but that's what happens when there's little (read: no) money. D'oh.

Thanks for remaining interested. >.<

just finished two posters for Down and Dangerous. did them myself and let me tell you, I have had my fill of youtube tutorials on image masks, dodge and burn, light wraps, etc, etc.

Definitely.

This is why we're so slow in post on blackhats...there's like 3 people involved right now...all with regular jobs...so I feel you on this.

But, we're coming along. Hope to see that poster soon and ready to see the flick when it's done.

Keep on!

Martin

I think you'll get a deal no problem. You've got a good piece. A great professional look and Special Effects. I'm definately waiting myself to see this project finished. Good luck!

I remain *very* interested!

I fell off the face of the DVXplanet these last few months and came back just to find out the status of superseeds. I've hidden a stash of money somewhere in the US, in wait of it's release. haha.

In all seriousness though, I really can't wait for this and it's always great to see/hear the progress being made.

Just thread this whole thread, thanks for sharing Kholi! Good read.
Trailer looks great, best of luck with the rest of the project. Definitely keen to see the full film! :)

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the severe lack of updates on this. We're still in the final finishing phase (titles and credits, final sound design and adding some new stuff to the score, stereo mix for initial DVDs, color, poster) and there hasn't been much to report, really. Now that it's a bit dead as the year closes I think we'll finally get to finish this thing up before 2013 haha.

u_u Man it's been a long time.

Can't wait to see it :) Congratulations on what looks to be an amazing achievement Kholi.

Oh! Well thanks, nothing/Simon, that means a lot coming from you haha. And thanks to everyone for the extended support... I know it seems like it's dragging but without the money... well yeah.

Can't wait to be finished... oi.

Our biggest issue with thinking about going SAG on an indie I am producing is that they don't consider the payroll deposit as collateral. Not only do you have to do a bank transfer to the payroll service but you also have to match it with a bond. If your production is under 2 weeks they want 100% of the actor's rate and 40% if its over 2 weeks. That's still a huge financial burden for an indie film.

Indeed, but then you have to consider that it's hard to find great talent that isn't SAG already for one reason or another.

It isn't such a big deal, however, to pay the actors rates up front, or pay all of the actors outright IMO. You should have that money, anyway, and it's just making sure that the talent gets paid.

I've been lurking on this board for years and always find posts from you and other vets insightful.
I just clicked on this link and watched the trailer. O__O Wow!

Dude, you are killing it and make me feel freakin' ashamed.
Incredible work.

I'm still going through this thread and probably will come up on it but, did you dig the RED One MXs?
And would you recommend picking up one or was the workflow (production and post) a hassle?
