FEATURE: TRAILER - SUPERSEEDS | Super Powered Adventure

No problem, guys.

We're about to roll on our next days of shooting this coming week! Looking forward to it.

If you're in the Los Angeles (West) area and you want to help out, PM me!

Post on the location grind in Los Angeles coming up. It may be tough here for no budgets, but it's doable.

How did you get the banner. I'm trying to get one too. I loved the reel you guys did by the way.

I dig his costume/wardrobe. It's perfect for this type of comedy.

Best of luck, man!

You mentioned the need to start an "LLC" for the filmmaker. How did you manage the tangle of SEC and IRS laws/issues as a microbudget filmmaker if you accepted third-party investors? Is it really cost/legally efficient for microbudget filmmakers to go the LLC route (rather than partnership)?

I've known filmmakers who raised capital by issuing shares in their LLCs. Their films went on to lose most of their money. I cringe at the thought of investors now calling in their debts. People can get ugly when it comes to their money. These filmmakers could face some serious consequences if the investors decide to press the issue.

An LLC allows for members, etc. which members become part owners of assets, profits. It's something that one should definitely seek information on, but I was advised that an LLC is absolutely what you want to do to separate your personal assets. That goes for any business, though, not just filmmaking.

DBA's, Partnerships, etc, that's all stuff you want to look into. I believe it is definitely cost efficient, beneficial and legally efficient to operate under an LLC. You can get business accounts, apply for business loans, seek business grants for small start-ups etc with an LLC. And, of course, as silly as it sounds it looks a lot more professional than just the filmmaker acting as herself/himself.

While I did suggest an LLC, you should definitely look into it for yourself.

Their films went on to lose most of the money? Or the filmmakers themselves didn't recoup as much as they would have hoped?

The guys who "raised" me, along with my friend Geoff Reisner, always reiterate this to me: You just want to get the feature made. If that means giving away money, oh well. You do what you have to do to get a start. And, it's true. Sometimes some people just want to be a part of your growth and will profit later, even if that is the case you WANT to reward them for believing in you, and you want to do it in a great way.

These are the people that you'll form a partnership with that need no contracts, paperwork, etc (although you'll want to have it all IN CASE).

It's a rather valid concern, investors calling in for their money. That's what the contract is for and being up front, honest, and very very transparent about where their money is going and most importantly for how long.

The reality is that if it DOES come back to them, it may not be for some time yet.

IN the case of SUPERSEEDS, I'm personally not one bit worried about it recouping its cost as far as tangible funds go. Sweat Equity? That's a different story.
