UPDATE: just letting everyone who was interested know - DVD's are now available for $25 CAD (~$21 USD). they are real replicated discs, not DVD-r's. you can purchase them by clicking the top link on the hiatus site (http://www.hiatusbmx.com)

hey, i haven't posted in a while, but i thought some of you may be interested in checking out the trailer for our new BMX video. i guess you could call it an action documentary - we spent two years filming for it and now it's finally finished. It showcases riding from 10 different people from st. john's, newfoundland, canada.
now i know this forum says dvx footage only in the sub title, but there are a few clips from random vx2000's, pd150's, maybe a trv900 or vx1000 i don't remeber exactly which clips i used but anyway the majority of the clips are from the dvx.
enjoy!

Great stuff, my friend.

The music fit extremely well. Since most of it was shot non-anamorphic (or letterbox), have you considered adding a matte? I only say this because at the very end when it dissolves from white into the widescreen section, all I could look at were the bars at the top and bottom appearing out of nowhere.

I liked it a lot though. I would love to see the entire project.

for some reason the file wasn't working for me. I tried it earlier today on my PC, to open up the MPEG-4 one and it wouldnt open either on my windows media player nor my quicktime. When i get back home today i'll try downloading a different version and then maybe running it through sorenson squeeze or a program of some sort so that I can view it. But from what i've heard of it so far it seems pretty cool, cant wait to check it out

hey thanks for the feedback, i know what you mean, the letterboxing sort of appears out of nowhere. how i originally had it laid iout in my mind was that i wanted the artistic type intro stuff in the beginning (in 16:9) and then the regular riding footage 4:3 as it always is when i shoot. i originally left the final URL un-mayttted but i didn;t liek how the letterboxing would just instanlty appear upon replaying the video. it was basically a choice of the letterboxing popping up in the end sometimes (upon replay) or having it gradually transition in all the time. i dunno haha i guess that;s what i get for mixing aspect ratios :)

Good stuff... My nephews are bmx freaks. So let us know how we can go about getting a copy.

thanks, we are currently gettign the discs pressed (won't be done until latest a week after the premiere) so probably before december 9th is when i will have them. they will be sold by a bmx mailorder in halifax as well as direct from us. both myself and the mailorder will charge $25 CAD ($22 USD) but by ordering direct you won't pay sales tax or shipping (unless you wanted it shipped express).

thanks, the music was composed by a friend of mine. in order to get our dvd's pressed we needed signed contracts from the artists, so i had to be a bit resourcful and really tap the local mucis scene. witht hat said, the soundtrack is better than i could have ever hoped for!
hey that's great that your son is into it, i'll PM you when i get the dvd's and see if you're still interested.

Did you create that music yourself? Maybe on FruityLoops? Sounds like it....

Awesome video. I'd like to see the full.

nice stuff. did u stick to 60i or also 24? i didn´t see too much slomo. nice editing and cool musical-choice, although i expect it gets a little louder in the film...

how did u shoot the Kooyaniqatsi shot? zoom or cameramove? looks great.

ah it was a mix of 60i and 24p - 24p for the artsy type stuff and 60i to give a reality feel to the riding featured. not sure i am familiar with the term Kooyaniqatsi shot (or the person rather...?) thanks for the feedback
