Trailer for my short movie "Bandanna"

I posted the first scene of this movie a while back, and have since put together a trailer for the whole thing.

www.vgstudio.com/movies/trailer2.mov

I edited it as an "attractive" trailer, as if it were designed to be hooking in a large audience, so it makes the movie look like an action flick, even though it's more of an experimental/comedy type thing (this is reflected in the soundtrack choices; the movie itself uses somber and eccentric music by bands like Radiohead and Sigur-Ros, whereas for the trailer I picked fast-paced drumbeats and techno).

I plan to enter this into the Westport Youth Film Festival next year, so I want a trailer that will get kids at my school and in the surrounding area to go see it.

Basically, what I want to know is, after viewing this trailer, would you want to see the rest of the movie? Any tips on how to make it seem more "attractive" to my fellow teenagers would be appreciated (and no, I won't stoop so low as to put random nudity in the trailer.... I do have some principals, after all... ::)).

P.S: Oh yeah, for those who helped me out in the Final Cut Pro forum, thanks. This is the movie I was editing.

LOL..looks good man! Dude I thought I was one of the only people who knew about Sigur-Ros - They kick ass!!! Rock on thats awesome.

I would have to say that I want to see the film but I am not totally attracted to it. Looks a bit amatuer but like you said it is somewhat of an experimental film. Overall I thought the editing was pretty good. The gun sound effects had to low of a bitrate so that changed the feel of everything. I am guessing you got it for free off a website. I would recommend if you had some cash to go out a buy some inexpensive stock effects. When everything is completely done send me a copy I would like to see the whole thing. Can't wait to see some more films from you. ;D Keep at it man!

No need for nudity, but women definitely help.  Also, teenagers watch MTV, I'm told, and are probably accustomed to some quicker cuts.

I liked the second half of the trailer (starting at 'memories of the past') better than the first half. in fact, i think it's stronger to just start at that point and drop the front half. but that might just come from the fact that i didn't like those white hats!

i would also advise against having the trailer misrepresent the tone of the piece. it would be better to make a strong trailer that captures what you like about your movie. if it's a comedy, then try and make the trailer include the best of the comedic elements of the movie. even a snippet of that will make the action parts of the trailer take on a different light. that said, the current trailer does make it clear that it's a comedy/action piece.

also, you might want to check with the rules of the film festival you're entering about using music you don't have rights to.

best of luck.
