Tracking bubble shot

Cheers Allen. I have quite a lot of shooting and post over the next month. Today I'm shooting some 7D with the 150 so that should be cool. I am kind of stoked to have a really nice series of lenses to mess around with... Should be a cool combo.

looking forward to seeing your work mixing footage from both cams together!

after seeing your video, which i liked, i'm thinking that if i were to light that scene i'd add a bit more fill just so that the blacks weren't crushed over such a large range. i like the high contrast look, but felt it was a little too extreme in the shadows.

i've been considering adding a gh1/T2i/7d to my hmc150 too. one thing i've noticed, the canons have an orange/red tinge to the footage while the gh1 stuff i see seems to come out more 5.6k. i've often felt that my hmc tends more towards red tones and a warmer look, so maybe the canon dslrs would be a better match image-wise. curious to hear how you feel.

Cheers... This is all contrasty stuff. Intentionally I push the master ped way negative on this to get the seemless blacks and to also raise up a ton of contrast. This new thing I shot has even more contrast. It's black roses on black background with a ton of rim lighting.. Kind of the whole piece here.

I can understand going with a ton more fill. This only had one fill light and 3 rim lights.... extremely unbalanced, but exactly what I was going for. ON some of the shots there's a straight up split on the persons face..... pretty interesting looking

Hey guys.. I just put up a series of selects for the client... The first song is all 7D footage and the last two are with 150 footage. It's not a final edit.. just selects and it's about 10 minutes long. Cheers and hope you enjoy.

BTW.. I'm totally getting a 550d when it's out. I love my 150, but these DSLRs can do wonderful things.. They aren't full proof and have quirks but the 7D footage is impressive... and the 550d is even more so for the price....

cheers and here's the link...

The video and lighting work really well together to get a unique look. Vivid is the word that comes to mind. Were the lights set up high or on c-stands to the side?

The lights were all set behind the backdrop except for the one loan fill light that was in front. I had 2 650 arri fresnels and a 2k behind them, and a 300 watt arri light in front. Pretty much all spotted down and with no diffusion except on the 300 fill front light. I tend too really like a lot of rim lighting on this so I can't do much fill... I do also crush down the blacks to make the drape blend in and disappear. Some people don't like it so contasty but it's a personal preference.

The lights were also up on a stage so much higher than the background drape. I tend to use C-stands for my larger lights and kino style lighting and just regular arri stands at full height for the smaller lights.

Cheers again... and if you have other questions.... let me know.
