Totally New to All This....

[flybum]

I am new to the world of HDV and just purchased an XH-A1s and accessories. I was wondering if anyone could point me to a resource that would help with educating me in learning to shoot in more of the manual functionality the camera offers.

I have done digital photography with my 5D for a couple years, so have an understanding of Tv and Av modes and what they can do in digital stills......but would like more knowledge on shooting film.

Any good suggestions? I did some searches on the site and couldn't really find anything.

Thanks in advance for your help.

top tip. just film and film. get a feel for it, and experiment.

There are some very good video lessons at http://www.expertvillage.com/search.htm?s=xh-a1

Other than that, like James said - go out and shoot some things, trying things out.

Top tip two - keep a notebook and note the settings you used for each shot. Then you'll be able to repeat what works when you want.

Nick. I personally love the notebook idea.

I have a DVD "Inside the Canon A1" by Vasst. This was before the A1s came out, but it goes over features of the camera. Let me know if you're interested.
