Top Three Comedies Of All Time...

I can't believe I forgot it... It's my avatar... Bad Santa, my personal favorite comedy right now (although we'll have to see how it carries the weight of time)

I watch a lot of foreign films and I find that comedies always seem to lose something in translation. Comedy is so subtle. A different word or phrasing and it all falls apart.

I imagines this is why the silent film greats like Chaplin, Keaton, and Lloyd, are so universal and popular world wide.

Speaking of the "holy three", Keaton is my favorite and "The General" is probably my favorite of his films. I should put that in my top three comedies as well.

Chris

There are quite a few really good ones.

My top three:

1) Stripes (not mentioned at all)

2) Revenge of the Nerds, part I

3) History of the world part I

also:

- princess bride ?

- Kingpin

- anchorman was pretty funny

- definitely Fletch

If you stand behind your #2 & #3 as being among the funniest movies of all time that's one thing...
But American Psycho? Come on. It was an average film IMO, but how are you gonna classify it as comedy? I am convinced that you're just f***ing with us by (in which case, "that's a good one, you old so-and-so.") If not, please explain.

I guess you have to have a dark sense of humor. I would suggest going back and watching it again. The first time you watch it, it's more sick than funny. Also, click on the title, there is a link to a clip. I would quote some lines, but they really don't do the movie justice, a lot of the humor is in the acting. Christian Bale is genious in that movie.
