I just purchased my DVX100A from Rush at EVS because with the tax Profeel has to add to the order (I live in New York State) and the extra cost of the warranty (EVS has it for $169) combined with the dvxuser.com discount Rush gives members of this site, Profeel was more expensive. Besides, Rush has made himself approachable (although he's VERY busy) by frequenting this site.
Thanks Magic! By the way, we are usually very busy afternoons 2-5pm (Pacific) and all day Friday. However... I am always online all day answering emails, and those are the easiest, since I can get done with the customer on the phone without frustrating him, before answering an email. It works so well. ;D

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

I bought my 100 from iBuyDigital.com with no hassles.  The only reason I didnt use Rush was because of the taxes since I'm in Cali also.  I just bought some mics, headphones and a paglight from Rush, though, because his prices & service are great. It's somehow reassuring to talk with a person who you have a connection with as opposed to cold-throwing money over a phone link. :D

I had originally found those cheaper deals enticing also, but backed WAY off once I was sent to www.resellerratings.com.  Eye-opening info there.

HTH,
Chico

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

Too bad for me.. Ol' Rush Im sure his boss doesnt mind hes on the forums all day (work related) My boss on the other hand might frown on it.. lol..

Rush from my experience is a top notch salesperson.. Im saying this from a salesman's perspective as I am in sales on my day job.

I purchased my DVX100a and accessories from him. I can whole heartedly recommend Rush and EVS.. He converted me from the B&H cult.. by his lower pricing and peronal attention he gives me...

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

I'm surprised no one from the Brooklyn Syndicate has sent in a mole to this board to talk them up.

After all, they post phantom reviews on legit ratings and created their own business rating website to give themselves "seals of approval."

By the way, I just wanted to say thank you for all the support, to all DVXusers.  It's amazing, how, in just a few months, I can't imagine coming into work without getting on this site to see what's up.  ;D
Ah, now I get it. Rush has figured out a way to surf the net at work and get paid. I keep thinking of ways to do that at work too (just kidding, Rush).

Well, I'm just here to say that all those sites that are being criticized here are wonderful sites offering great values for consumers who don't want to pay those outlandish prices from reputable dealers. These low price champions are selflessly looking out for YOU, the consumer, all the way. I've bought tens of thousands of dollars in top notch equipment from these dealers over the years and so have all my friends.

(Of course, I'm an idiot, and so are all my friends)

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

(And of course, if I had tens of thousands to spend, it wouldn't be at any of those shops)

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

(And if I had any friends, they probably would shop at EVS, B&H, and Profeel)

There's much to be said for J&R, too, where I purchased my first DVX.

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

I hate to say this but J and R don't have the dvx100a (only dvx100) and no one there seems to have ever heard of the the a version. I dealt with them about 2 months ago. very strange experience.

Dammit Man! I thought I had EVERYONE foiled! ;D Now they ALL know.

Back to the drawing board...

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

Well - my two cents... since I have SO many cents left after the great buy that I just completed.  ;)

inoax.com  Yes, I was on hold for 20 minutes.  Yes, I was treated to a few "special" offers.  However, after dealing with it, I have received my dvx100a in the mail after only 36 hours, coast-to-coast!  I got it for $3200 INCLUDING 2-day shipping, the full sealed and new camera, AND an extended 2 year warranty.  S-w-e-e-t.  It was completely worth the quote, "hassle".
I did tons of research, and decided to go this route because I didn't want to pay Cali taxes either.

Can't wait to start posting my work in the future...

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

I wouldn't get less than a 4 year extended Mack warranty on the 100a considering the investment. In 1998 I purchased a Canon ZR (they just came out) with a 4 year Mack warranty because I was going to Peru to climb in the Andes and I wanted a small camcorder. About 4 years later I was bicycling to the beach about 4 blocks away from my house and like an idiot I had my ZR hanging around my neck "documenting" the trip to the beach". Anyway, I hit something and I went flying with my ZR face down in the sand. It was toast. I dusted it off, called Mack, sent it to them for $ 15 and less than a month later(they had to send it to Canon to fix) it came back with new insides and it still works great. Don't underestimate the value of a good warranty with some length. Dave

Well, your price is not much different than some of the reputable places. This thread was begun discussing places advertizing the DVX100A for $2400 or $2700, and outlandish prices like that.

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

>:( Oh my god!!! I F**#ing hate A&M photoworld. I was on hold for over an hour, and the guy on the phone started asking ME questions like
1. Do you know what kind of camera this is, Its not a toy you know.

2.What are you shooting with it?

3.Do you need a tripod?
Case?
Battery?
Bla bla bla.........this is not a toy you know.

Ive won more awards for my cinamatography than this punk
has had years on this earth, ....and hes questioning me!

Then he said it would take 4 to 8 weeks to ship. When The first
thing I asked him was DO YOU HAVE THIS IN STOCK?
This company should be shut down. I wasted so much time.
I wish I would have seen this post a week ago. I had no idea
about the serial stripping. Im so glad they didnt get my money.
We should all send emails to the BBB Investigators to get them
shut down.

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

I'm not sure the BBB will help much. Go to http://www.ripoffreport.com/ and you'll find that the BBB is often complained about as an organization that collects money so businesses can put their logo up, but does nothing about complaints. I haven't checked out ripoffreport on any of these video stores, but I'm sure they're up there.

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

okay guys...i just took the plunge and now i am curled in the fetal position on the floor because i dont really have the money. :) tell me i did the right thing!!! i purchased my dvx from inoax after seeing that someone else on here did too. they did give me there sales pitch and i actually fell for it after i promised myself i would not. all and all....i have to say it wasn't a bad deal.

Re: Too-good-to-be-true DVX prices?

my DVX Order horror story came from when I ordered from Beach Camera. While I got the DVX100A for $3200-ish(w/no shipping charges and w/everything that it was supposed to come with it)I found it kind of strange that I had to fax them a pic of my drivers license and credit card!! Of course, I canceled my credit card after the order went thru, but I am never going thru that again!! BTW, since EVS is looking to be "the place" for all things DVX related, do they have the best prices on the Panny Master DV tapes? Read somewhere else that taperesource.com had the lowest, but I just want to sure.
