Is it me or does cable TV have an ungodly amount of moire these days. After sitting at home all weekend in front of the TV (I'm sick), it looks worse than my 7D!
Just wanted to see if this was driving anyone else nuts.
Not just on cable, even Auntie Beeb's been throwing up more moire (Moire not Moira, the lovely Ms Stewart's been notable by her abscence) of late, especially on non-scripted stuff. "The great Brittish bake-off" was full of it.

Whenever I watch HD content at a friend's with DirectTV (Satellite) the compression artifacts can be so bad it's distracting. Watching "Boardwalk Empire" and seeing tons of JPEG macroblocking the size of legos - which disappears when the camera stops moving, just like 1990's era quicktime. And the freaking "lego dance party" in the shadows? Wow.
We're using the newish ATT-Uverse at my place, and though the first couple months had some audio dropout issues, it's been really solid for over a year now. It's supposedly more of a network setup vs. standard cable, the installers were totally geeked out about it (they said when you choose a channel you're pinging a server for content vs. everything being dumped to your box, dunno about that but interactivity is instantaneous). And I was able to wire my 2-story house for it in a weekend since it uses cat-5.
