Tokina 11-16 with live view?

I've had my 7D for a few weeks now and just picked up the Tokina 11-16 lens. It works great when taking photos looking thru the viewfinder, but when i try using live view on the lcd screen it takes awhile for it focus and take the picture. If I go manual on the lens it takes the photo right away. I also have a tamron 17-50 and that works perfectly using the viewfinder and live mode.

Just wondering if it's a camera problem or lens problem. Anyone experience this or mind giving there lens a test?
