The Nikon mount is pretty easy to find, but the Canon mount no so much. And it's one of the best (if not the best) ultra-wide-zoom for the Canon DSLRs.

Rockwell said,

"If you shoot Canon, get the Canon 10-22mm, since it doesn't cost much more and has a much wider and longer zoom range. I have not compared its sharpness, however the Canon's distortion control is superior."

He also said,

"If I shot with Canon 1.6x cameras this would be the lens I'd use most often. I'd get one pronto! "

For only $170 more it seems like a better deal. He's not sure about the sharpness compared but the distortion is better than everything else, "no contest".

Oh - I see now.. It's 3.5 - 4.5 f stop. That definitely hurts the lens, lol.

Amazing lens, it is super heavy and metal. It looked plastic online, but this is L series build quality. Just got mine in the mail today. They aslo have them in stock at kennmore camera.

Rockwell is wrong on that one.

The thing about Ken Rockwell is that he's a (award winning) stills photographer with a concentration in landscapes and toilets (he said that last part himself). So my takeaway is that he's generally less concerned with the fastest aperture available and more concerned with getting the focal length equivalent he's used to getting on full-frame, which is what the Canon 10-22 gives him (16-35 equivalent, just like the 16-35mm L on full frame) Plus, from reading several of his reviews, he seems to have a bias against non-camera brand lenses and prefers canon on canon, nikon on nikon, etc, but that's just my interpretation.

yo matt. i never get tired of that pic. makes me drool thinking about my tokina on a ups truck somewhere on the way to me. did you use a pola on that one?

I'm also curious about the polarizer and the Tokina 11-16.

Do you get vignetting? Use a B+W slim filter?

I know, me too. That was the Nikon version on my D300 right before I sold it all and switched to the 5dmkii/7d.

The Tokina was the FIRST Canon-mount piece of glass I bought for the 7d.

I, on the other hand, am so tired of that shot it's ridiculous. Go shoot something new, Gottshalk, or I'll fly to D.C. and cock-punch you.
