Toast9 Splits long AVCHD clips?

Has anyone ever tried to transcode with FCP "log and transfer" then get the "ProRes" file and retranscode it to DVCPROHD in order to keep the clips from spliting and saving on the memory from "ProRes". Obviously you would delete the "ProRes" clip once you transcode to DVCPROHD..

Anyone tried this????

With FCP there is no need to use Toast for importing/trancoding AVCHD. When you use Log & Transfer in FCP any long clip is recognized as just one clip-not a bunch of little ones. The ProRes file will be one long clip as well. You can use QuickTime Pro or FCP to convert the ProRes file to DVCPROHD, but you'll lose some quality. I've heard ProRes is better than DVCPROHD. ProRes is the best quality codec (well, ok, ProRes HQ is better) for editing.

Use Panasonic's free AVCHD to p2 utility to go directly to DVCProHD mxf files and then import.

Gotta do it in Windows however.
