To The Moon (Super Moon 5/5/2012)

Beautiful!
I can't believe the sharpness of the craters on the bottom edge of the moon. Are you using the Maksutov at 1:05?
And I love how you started with the partial moon- was that later that night or another night?
Great soundtrack, too! But perhaps the "satellites" are birds?
Are you near Athens? Thanks for sharing!

Yes. Almost everything was shot with the Maksutov. Maybe the last 3-4 frames with the Rubinar.
Are these birds or bats (consider it was about 2am in the morning)? I don't know. This looked to me initially as a long tube with lateral wings rotating around itself and in orbit around the moon (?) or the earth. But looking at it closely again could be birds (even if I would expect birds to be closer to the lens, so bigger). Also, the second object following an almost perfect vertical motion and looking more round shaped doesn't look like a bird to me....
Have to look at these objects more closely.

Everything was shot from the roof of my building in Athens.

And the crescent moon frame was about two weeks before the Super Moon, right before setting around midnight.

The full moon is nice, but other phases are maybe more interesting because you see more detail.
