Has been an extensive testing with NEO from Cineform and the results are just Fantastic.
I bought it and was a pleasure to pay only $ 299, for that.
But down scaling to DVD is something Vegas do fairly well, however far from perfect.
I found a software that makes a conversion from HD to DVD totally clean without
aliasing or moire, just as perfect as The HD version, years looking for something like that
the name is TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works.
You convert to 864x480 using the Neo codec, then go to Vegas time line and Magic
PERFECT DVD. WOW

$ 99 on the website no?

Yes , $ 99 I think is a Japanese company, It has a lot of functions but the only one I'm interested is the scaling down, but that is a lot.
Since you have your Neo codec in your computer, What you have to do is get into the program your clips AVCCAM, AVCHD, HD etc
then convert them to Cineform Avi, and resize for example from 1080 or 720 to 864x480, the program produces an avi Cineform clip
864 x 480 ready to handle it in first light and to drop it in Vegas timeline.
For users without the Neo Cineform codec no problem it generates a perfect Avi uncompresed with perfect Down scaling.
Is great, I was almost convinced that the only way to scale down is as Hollywood does, and that cost over $ 60.000
NOT only $ 99
Try it is great

Discovered TMPGE4 about a year ago after wasting days trying to get the best encode and downsizing with other software for SD-DVD. Does very well with 1080i and 720p footage.

Sure it does, I never tryed version 4 but I understand version 5 is a lot better

I use CS3 not Vegas, and no Cineform. Would this help in with CS3 for down-scaling HDV or HD to DVD? I've never been entirely happy with the results of Adobe (and Matrox).

Sure, it works in any editor that reads avi uncompressed like Premiere in any version, The workflow is you convert your clips in TMPG to
avi uncompressed, choose Avi uncompressed, and where says size you erase the native size and write 864x480 then process the clips
at that point you will have avis 864x480 from your original 1440x1080 or whatever size you have, then you drop them in the Premiere timeline
so now you can render MPG2 for your DVD at Encore, but without artifacts or moire, just as sharp as your original HD, but DVD size.

This is neat; I'll have to keep this in mind for Vegas (HMC40/AVCHD) and when I do DVDs. I really appreciate the information, Felipe.
