Hey all,

Anybody here got some tips to share for balancing the hmc 150 with the glidecam hd 4000. Mine is leaning a bit to the left and slightly forwards.
Got 3 counterweights in the front and 4 in the back .

I just got mine today , damn Im still excited it about it but setting it up is a pain and so is using it.Had the big battery on and the lcd open with a lenshood. I got the fore arm brace as well.

Hope you guys got some tips to share .

Thanks .

i use the 2000 with my hvx and its pretty much just practice, its a pain in the ass but you get faster at it after a while.

Balance the drop time first.....from horizonal to vertical, should take about 2 to 3 seconds. Once you have that, open the LCD (if that's how you're going to use it), loosen the 4 thumb screws on the side of the mounting plate and the 4 screws on the bottom of the plate. Hold the glidecam, or put it on the balancing bracket and adjust the plate with the center screws. the on on the center side adjusts the plate to the left of right, the one in the center back adjusts the plate forward and back.

Since yours is leaning to the left and forward, you would want to adjust the plate a bit to the right and back using those screws.

I hope that makes sense, but you should take the time to read the manual, as it explains it in detail. Once you get the idea, you can balance it pretty quick.

Thanks guys , I'll give it a try tommorrow. My thumbs are in pain.
Is that the x10 zaza ?

PS : Actually I tried it right away , not the manual part , but its close to 95 %. It doesn't lean left anymore and goes alittle to the back now but I'll do that tommorrow.
Thanks again.

Yes... the X-10, just got it & lovin' it! It takes a strong back...I can only shoot about 20 minutes at a time right now. (Of course if I lost a few pounds...I'm sure that would help!):)

Zaza,

Since a couple years have gone by and you've been able to experiment with the X-10, I have to ask, do you go with the 2 springs option as opposed to the 4? It seems you've chosen the 2 in the photo since I don't see any extra weight on your HD4000 to try to get it up to the 18lb max. This means you would have had to keep it under 9 lbs...which I'm over by a pound. Or did you do 4 springs and just lower all settings to 0? I'm conflicted as to what to do. The manual says, as a rule of thumb, to get closest to the max pound-ing for best shooting. I'm finding this is hard to do with the 2 spring option without going over. But, oh man, it's so much lighter this way.

Thanks for your input.
