Batteries and Fuel Cells are heavy and inconvenient, according to researchers, the successor could be tiny micro gas turbine engines (much like jet engines) that will provide more than enough power for cell phones, PDAs, and now RED! Check out the article "Power on a Chip" (Technology Review). I can imagine the phrase "check the gate" being replace with "fueling up" ...
