Timelapse!

So not sure if this is the best spot to post but here it goes..

I have a DVX100B and a Macbook with Adobe OnLocation.

I want to shoot a timelapse video. I planned on shooting in 24p, squeeze mode. I'll use adobe onlocation to capture directly and then import into fcp. Once i have it on my timeline i'll speed it up however much i need to, to get the desired time.

I've done this method before, but I feel like I could get more quality out of it. Should I adjust my shutter speed on the camera at all? And is there anything I should look out for in FCP or Onlocation that could affect the quality?

Thanks.

or if you could point me in a better direction to ask this question..perhaps in a different section?

Blasted! I'm glad you were with me on this one though. Maybe your interest will cause someone to share their wisdom :)

Okay...well I went ahead a filmed the project.

What I ended up doing is shooting in 30p with the shutter speed set at 1/4. Uploaded directly to a hard drive via onlocation and then threw that bad boy into fcp. I sped the entire thing up to %1280 of it's original speed (The 1/4 shutter speed/%1280 where pulled out of Barry's DVX book). This looks pretty dang good actually, except that it is a 6 and a half hour clip (90 gigs..) and at %1280 it was still a half hour long. So parts of it are at %5500, which is just a number I pulled out of thin air. I'll post a link to the video in this thread and the DVX Clips thread when I am done with it.

I actually like shooting at a higher shutter speed when shooting landscape timelapses. Gives the look of more detail. When its of traffic or something that has a lot of random movement, the lower shutter speed works better. Plus I tweek it in AE.

interesting...do you record your time lapse in a similar fashion?

I know the dvxa and dvx have a time lapse feature. I don't know anything more about it so if you can shed some light on the subject, by all means do so.
