Please read this entire post as there is some important information beyond just the finalists that I would like to not have to repeat 800 times... 400 I can live with
Ok... so, first.... Drumroll.... Here are the eight (8) films that are finalists and will move onto round 2 of voting as well as be screened at the LA Screening
In alphabetical order (these are NOT according to rank):
Ad Infinitum
Aetas
John Abbott Mitchell
O2
R.P.D.M.
Survival
The Small Multiple
The Watchman
The list above are the 8 finalists for TimeFest. These films will continue to compete in round two voting and will be screened at the DVXuser Screening in L.A.
The 8 films above MAY alter their films for the L.A. screening if you feel it will better represent you at the screening. However, if you choose to alter your film, it may NOT exceed 6:30 seconds. More information on the requested deliverable format for the screening will be provided by someone from the Fat Monster crew soon.
This was a pretty tight battle for the finalists and there are certainly a few films that didn't quite make the cut.
After the fest closes, we will publish the rankings and voting averages of the Top 8, and will make available your individual ranking and voting average upon request to myself or Larry R via pm.... This information will not be provided before the closing of the fest, so don't ask before then
ROUND 2 Voting:
For those of you who have already rated the top 8 films, there is nothing more for you to do in round 2 except to verify that you have voted for all 8 films as you will need to do so in order for your vote to carry over into round two.
If you have voted for some, but not all of the top 8 films, you will need to watch and vote on the remaining films in the top 8 that you have not yet voted on if you want your votes to carry over and count in round two.
If you have not voted at all, or have not voted for any of the top 8 films, this is your opportunity to get your vote in and help determine the outcome of the fest. You only have 8 films to view and vote on. Please take the time to do so.
The first purpose of round two voting is to equalize the amount of votes across films. Though all of the films in the top 8 have similar amount of votes, this is the proper and fair way to handle this. That is why we request that you complete your ballot of the top 8 if you have not already rated all 8 of the above films.
The 2nd purpose is to bring more voters to the table who may not have had time to watch 65 films. We are now asking you to watch and rate the 8 finalists narrowed from a list of 65. Enjoy.
Panel Voting:
In addition to the 2nd round popular vote, we are simultaneously sending the films off to an independent panel of industry professionals. They will remain anonymous until the fest winners are announced, but you can be proud in knowing that at least one Oscar Winning Producer (Best Film) will be viewing your work.
The panel vote is an ADDITIONAL recognition. The top 3 (as always) is decided by you the members. In addition to that, there will be a Panel award for "Best Film) as chosen by the panel. Again, this is an award that is in addition to the audience voted awards that you may be familiar with.
How to vote in the 2nd round:
Simple... Just like before. Go to this page:
http://www.dvxfest.com/timefest
You are rating the films just like in round one. You are not ranking the films. You are rating individual films based on their individual merits.
You will see 8 films. Off to the side, you will see the ratings that you may have already given. Just watch and rate the films you have not already rated using the same 1-10 start rating method. You should NOT need to change your original 1st round vote. Changes to your original 1st round votes will be ignored by the database, and only if you have a genuine need to tweak a rating, you should pm myself or Larry. We will be monitoring, as always, the voting for fairness.
Winners, and Prizes will be announced at the L.A. Screening, and will be simulcast live from DVXFest.com via video webcast. Next Fest will also be announced at that time.
