Timefest entry "Survival"

Congrats guys! You walk in here and kick ass!!! We'll have some beers for sure with you on the 11th in Hollywood. ......

A few sun-baked guys from the desert come out of nowhere...congratulations, guys.

I can't wait to meet up with all you guys! This is going to be awesome!
And we are discussing our options for the extra 30 seconds...stay tuned :)

Congrats fellas! You had damn well better use that extra :30 seconds!!! :D

Seriously, great film and glad you guys entered and got Top 8!

Later.

Daniel

Beautifully shot. Perfect pace and atmosphere. You rose head and shoulders above so many films with so little (minimal actors, minimal dialogue, minimal effects). Tons of talent here. It's obvious.

Hey Survival guys: you have mentioned in a couple places how surprised and honored you are to be a finalist. Dont be. You were easily in my #2 spot. Now with The Moment After gone, you are easily #1.

Dont sell yourselves short. If you dont get it this time, I expect a first place in the next fest.

Thanks. We are gonna try even harder next time. All the feedback has been a great learning tool for us. And we did think we made a good movie. We just weren't sure how it would be received. Obviously we aren't the only ones who thought it was good.

I haven’t really commented on this thread yet (except once to Jeremiah), so I thought it time that I do, especially after seeing that last comment by GageFX.

It is SO cool to be receiving all this feedback – and somehow, a lot of it really positive feedback – from other filmmakers whose insight and body of work endorse the fact that it’s feedback worth listening to.

I LOVE the filmmaking (videomaking) process and probably annoy most of my friends with my incessant talk of it, but, as I’m sure many of you would agree, because of the collaborative nature of the medium, it sometimes is really hard to get motivated to organize everything and everyone to actually begin and complete a project. And that’s what brings me to what I appreciate most about these forums: Being able to share work with so many talented people and give and receive feedback is so incredibly motivating that I don’t know what I’d do without it now.

Just reading through all the comments on this thread has given me that needed kick in the pants to keep on going and get some work done. It’s pushing me to start some writing again that I’ve left untouched for months and to get some editing done I’ve put off for far too long.

So all that to say: Thank you all so much for your comments; it means more than you know.

Can’t wait to meet some of you all in Hollywood next week,
Tristan

P.S. – GageFX, thank you so much for that last comment! It was incredibly generous and hugely encouraging. Thanks!

I thought this looked really good and some of the schot especially in the opening were really well done.
I thought the voice over worked well, I could have done with a little less of the music box chime. I thought it could work well, maybe if it was just used in spots.
I didn't feel really connected to the female victim at all and I wished there might have been a little something somewhere, so I knew something about her.
I really liked how you brought back around at the end.

Overall, I thought this was really good.

Thanks... We shall see how we fair at the fest.
