C300: Timecode syncing multiple C300s

Got a shoot coming up with 3 C300s and we are having some questions concerning time code syncing them all together. Has anyone done this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've had to sync 2 C300's and also I've had to sync our C300 with other types of cameras like the F3. It's pretty easy depending on how you want to set it up.

1. You can BNC timecode out from A cam (you'll need a Y BNC adapter) to the TC in of the other 1 or 2 cameras. Of course you'll have cables connected to the cameras so take that into account.

2. I've also had good results using our Timecode Buddy Setup. Used this at a 4 day shoot at Abbey Road and it worked flawlessly. In a nutshell you'd have 2 TC Buddy receiver units connected to the B and C cam and they have a TX or transmit unit that would connect to the A cam and send TC wirelessly to the other cameras.
No cables and really good range. In our case the TX unit was connect to the Sound Devices 744t and sent to the 2 C300's PLUS we used their APP on our IPAD to provide a TC starting frame for a couple of 5d3's that were on the shoot.

Wait a minute....there are people out there who can afford 2 and even 3 C300s???

Seriously though. Do you need this for live broadcast situation ..I take it this is why you use it instead of PluralEyes.

for indies, plural eyes works good

but for events (espicially when one camera has s*%tty mic) pluraleyes dies

and I also found out that Pluraleyes on windows (which is still pluraleye 2) fails all the time with errors and stuff ,and most of the time it syncs only 60-70% of clips (4 hours footage) no matter what I try

but ! after all, Time code is good for films

why?

If you have the same shot for 50 takes, where actors pretty much uses the same tone to repeat again again and again ? this is where pluraleyes fails all the time.

ofcourse When you have pluraleyes, Time code feels like redundancy, but redundancy is crucial for film making.

Thanks for the detailed reply Shawn.

Was set to add pluraleyes to my software but 60-70% success on windows doesn't fill me with confidence.

Good to hear real world experience with software/hardware to make decisions.

I use an HD-SDI DA for TC signal distribution, although jam syncing works well enough for many shoots, especially using Clockit boxes.
