Timecode Generator for HVX-200

How can I get a timecode generator into the HVX200.... I'm going to be using two HVX200s and a SDX900 on a feature and I want the timecode to be the same.

The only way I know of would be to set the time on all and use "Time of day".

To get TC into the HVX you will need a TC/VITC/etc.. to Firewire converter. Non of which exsist yet to my knowledge.

According to somebody from Denecke you need LTC to run a DigiSlate, so I'm assuming that LTC is the Timecode that the SDX900 will pick up? I could do Firewire to VITC then from VITC TO LTC.

That is true. But again, I don't know of ANY Firewire TC converters - please let me knwo if you find one.

EDIT: Wow, you might have found it! I belive this may be one of the first! - The COMO comes close, but this might be the one!

Request to Panny for the next cam: how about give us VITC on the normal video out. (even better would be raw LTC)

Now I have another problem.... lol.... I wanted to record to the FS-100... and I doubt a firewire hub would work. Could record to a DVCPRO HD Deck...... Oh, the budget goes up again......

...........uhh....... lol........ well I guess that's better than having to spend 2,800 on the convertor...... Just get the deck since it'll come with those nice TC Ins and Outs. Why did panasonic ever make a "Cinema" camera without TC ins and outs? Or any company for that matter (on the lower end models.).

Note, that's a probably on the deck TC, I don't know for sure.

This is the one category where the XL-H1 (celarly) wins: profesional connectivity.

There is one thing worrying me though.....

DVCPRO HD-LP (optional) (1080/60i, 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 720/60P, 720/59.94P)

Those are the recording formats...... if I go straight into this deck (though RGB BNC Connections.) will it mark active frames or will it go in as strictly 720/60P with no chance of getting straight 24 out of it?

what you can do is take a Horita PTG (portable time code generator, reader.) first generate time code at the sdx-900 then jam time code on to the Horita which takes a 9v batt and will last all day. once your harita is counting down then you plug into one of the audio tracks of the hvx. you should hear a digital sound coming threw, sounds like a fax. In post you can extract the timecode off of the audio track. This is how we match time code from larger format cameras with dv cameras .
