can someone please give me a quick run down of the record check and end search functions on the DVX? are these ways to avoid timecode breaks.

i might have internal battery issues, because when i power off and on, i think im getting breaks.

if i'm not sure, will one of these buttons line up the camera with the last frame of recorded footage?

seriously, i can't wait to switch to tapeless, but it just aint in the cards yet.

Yes, you can use the end tape button at the back of the camera (with EV detail).

Or you can go in VCR mode and go back a little bit. This is one of the reasons that it's important to record at least 5 to 10 seconds after a shot.

An important addendum to that... you must switch your TC setting to REGEN in order to pick up at the point where the tape is parked. If you don't, the camera will begin recording at the last TC value saved (in other words, the last TC where recording stopped), causing a break in the time code.
