Three lenses for the FS700?

Hey everyone, i posted a question like this on the C300 forum. But, i'm pretty sure i'm sold now on the FS700. However, i've never really had an interchangeable lens camera (mostly worked with Panasonic HMC-40) So....

Which 3 lenses would be best for the FS700? Some affordable options would be nice too.

I'd love to buy at least 2 decent lenses to start with, and would be interested in a C mount to E adapter so we could use Canon glass as well, assuming that's a smart way to go.

Also, with many of these lenses would you be able to take advantage of Image Stabilization? I saw someone posting that you'd lose the ability to control the Iris using certain adapters and such. Does that make any sense?

I don't know too much about it, i feel like it could pick up somewhat quickly on how everything works, but i don't know what works and doesn't with certain lenses using adapters on the FS700.

Thanks for any info!

Im guessing you want zoom lenses? Right now, with the fs100, my 4 main lenses are a tokina 11-16, tamron 17-50, sony 18-200 (sony kit lens) and a zeiss 50mm 1.4. I use my zooms alot and my 50 much less, but it comes in handy. All of my lenses are nikon, i can control my aperture, but I cant use IS. With the sony 18-200 i can use IS and AF, both work very well for being an interchangeable lens camera.

Everyone is going to give you the same answers, but really, whether you go sony (e mount or a mount), nikon (f mount) or canon (EOS mount, not "c mount" like you said), you'll produce some great images

I was shooting yesterday on the FS100 (rental) with my Tokina 11-16 f2.8, Canon 24-70 f2.8 and Canon 70-200 f4 lenses which worked perfect. I also have Canon 50 f1.4, 85 f1.8 and 24-105 f4 and am replacing the 70-200 f4 with the 70-200 f2.8, but those first three lenses are my go to for most shoots.

Budget and they feel nice to focus:
nikon 18prime, 35-70manual,
and Sony Kit lens

If you must go canon..
16-35, 24-105 and sony kit lens

Hey all, thanks for the replies. I had a couple of questions. Really want to decide on at least two good lenses to get started with on the FS700.

The Tokina 11-16 f2.8 has come up a lot when i read about lenses. Would i need an adapter to use it on the FS700? If so, which adapter is best an allows use of all the features of the lens?

Should i worry that if it says a certain lens is for use with an APS-C sensor?

Also, what about A Mount? I've read with it, you can actually use the continuous Auto Focus for video with A mount lenses. I think the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 has an A mount version, would AF for video actually work on the FS700?

Thanks again for the tips. Totally new to lenses, but trying to soak it all in and make the right initial choice. The Sony 50mm 1.8 looks great for the price too.

Hey NextWaveG.

I take it you are using your Canon lenses with the Metabones? Is that working out good for you?

Yeah, would love to hear more about Canon lenses with the Metabones adapter. Very interested in using Canon lenses, as we might get a DSLR too.

Does Image Stabilization work with the Metabones adapter?

If you get a (canon) DSLR you can use Nikkor Contax or whatever you want - you dont need canon lenses although the IS is nice in some situations (does this work on the FS with with metabones?)

You must consider that FS100 and DSLR are both large sensor cameras and IMO fine control of focus is critical to use. Most AF lenses just do not have the feel on the barrel to sustain focus

Does anybody have an idea when the metabones adapter will be in stock again? I hope it'll be in time for the FS700 release.
