Three cameras, DVX, consumer, XL2-my daughters wedding.

It looks like MB is blowing out the whites and making details go away. Kinda like the whites are plugged into a 240 volt plug instead of 120 volt :)

OK, I just looked at the remix. Looks ok but artmetalart is right about the blow-out. At times, looks like there's a strobe light shining down on the bride's back and some of the bridesmaids. Other shots look like bride has a lamp under her veil. And the little ringbearer dude has the glow-worm effect on his shirt. I'd say the MB was a bit overdone.

Overall though, this was quite well done. I didn't catch whether you said this already, but was this your first wedding shoot? This being your daughter's I'm sure will make you make it special! Nicely framed shots, nice blending from one angle to next, nice cam placement, etc. The ONLY problem seems to be the colour matching. Nice job!

mystico, Thank you.

mystico, Thank you.

I'm getting great ideas from everyone. I'm thinking I might just ad MB to a few shots and maybe drop a matt and highlight the bride and groom in one shot. I'm going to get rid of the door opening, and make other changes. Sometimes I have gone over this so much I don't see these things that need changing. Kinda like writing a report or letter and not seeing the small detail cause you are focused on the overall project. Everyone has helped alot. This wasn't my first wedding but because I was in it it made things very hard. :-)

umm, yeah okay.....great?

Dude make this thing special!!!!!!
It's your own daughters wedding and you have got to edit this, make it so emotional that you cry just turning on your computer! This is just a church service with flowers, dresses and tuxes.
What would Jesus do?
Well we know he doesn't use a MAC, so open up your PC, select some amazing Gospel music and make this a love production!

sheesh, I can't believe you. :)
Milo,
Can you envision artists arguing about a medium that is inherently superior to another? (oils vs. pastels. Marble vs. garnite, etc.) 'Lo, art is subjective!
I have both a PC and a Mac and as an artist, I use whichever one is more in tune with what I am trying to do. Just as old colors would not work for Monet, old methods may not work for others when a particular piece calls for different technology. This means that the PC sits a long time without getting used. I just want to do projects, and don't care about the differences, just ease of use.
Let the techies battle about operating system superiority, you will make some great films, however you can.
Steve

I agree and was only trying to lighten up my criticism by throwing some humour out. I definitely don't care what system someone uses. They are only tools.
Ya know I really don't like favorites at all. My son asked what some of my favorites were and I told him I don't fall into that kind of labeling and pigeon holing. I like all numbers, all colors and all women with big brains. :)

Mac/PC

Mac/PC

I hear you both. I have a PC and only been using Mac for about a year. Some things I need both for. Some software I have on the PC I don't have on the MAC and so forth. It would be nice if one machine could do it all. I havn't been able to convert a good wmv file with the mac, I usually put it over to the pc and convert to FCP. Do any of you use flip4mac pro and if so, does it do wmv conversion?

Art metal Art,

I had my wife take over the camera in the beginning and as soon as I walked my daughter down the Isle I ran back and went to work. Not as much fun as enjoying the wedding but how could I not try to make her something very special. I did shoot in 60i cause I wanted to be the same as the other two.

Thank you tomyboy

Thank you tomyboy

One thing always seems to happen. I always wish I had done somethings differently. Some of the shots are framed the way they are cause the camera person is in the direct camera shot and the Xl2 had grooms men in the way for part of the time. It seems that it is kinda take what you can get with the photographer having the right of passage.

Worked on the audio today. Made a big improvement. Thanks for the tips.

Michael T. Thanks for the advise. I learned some stuff on my day off about sweetning the audio. It sounds much better. Thanks again. Also changed some of the editing. :)

Looks nice and the different camera angles helps. One thing is the audio needs some editing in that you can clean this up a lot very easy and quickly. Wether your using fcp or Premeire you can use pro tools or sound track pro with mac to sample the hiss and other nosies and remove them. To remove unwanted sounds in fcp or premeire you can always use a multiband equalizer and go in and cut off the top 3 or 4 bands which wont hurt the vocal or musical range of sound but will take out the hiss and make you sound track much more pleasing to the ear. You can keep cuting off the top end to remove as mush hiss as possible without hurting the quality by adjusting to what sounds good to you. Clean audio helps make good video great.

Changes

Yes, I did away with the magic bullet filter and bought a book on color correction and made changes there. Did some cutting and also worked on the sound. I think it is much better. I havn't posted anything new on the web site. I haven't had time to play with the site or files.
