i'd have to strongly disagree with this, hackintosh is defiantly the way to go being a editor ,great hardware choices. The big question is why are you looking to make this a hackintosh? In all honesty, windows 7 is just as good if not better than OSX (something I would never say about any other MS OS)
I also urge you to post your final build list over at hardocp.com in the general hardware forum. You will get great advice there.
Making an account right now, thank you so much for all your help.
And that's one mean looking rig! Why not use that as an editing machine?

I give up making an account on that forum... I tried my email and it says that gmail, yahoo, and hotmail are not acceptable emails... fine, so I made a gmx.com email address and it still won't accept it.. Saying that my email has been banned?
Is this machine an editing system or a gaming system? NLE's are finicky and require stability. That's why I suggest Asus boards and Corsair RAM. The Corsair RAM plays well with all memory slots full, something that is important. Lots of motherboard/RAM combos act funky when you have all the memory slots full, but ASUS and Corsair play together very nicely. That's why I and others suggest it.
Bells and whistles are nice, as well as savings, but in the end the #1 goal in creating an editing machine is stability.
